Doretha Hardison James, daughter of the late Isiah Hardison and Maxine Hardison, was born on February 6, 1939 in Martin County, North Carolina. Doretha, 76 silently departed this life on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Roanoke Landing Nursing and Rehab in Plymouth, NC. Doretha was member of the Disciples of Christ, until her courageous fight with illness. Doretha attended Martin County School in Jamesville, NC. She enjoyed in her leisure time, cooking, shopping, and she liked being outside smelling the flowers with her family. She was married to the late Barber Columbus James. Doretha now leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Maxine Hardison who resides at the Roanoke Landing Nursing Home in Plymouth, NC, six daughters, Althea Wilkins (Kenneth) of Raleigh, NC, Voliet Collins (Gaston) of Chocowinity, NC, Delores Owens (Dolly) of New York, Julia Kemp (Bradley) of Pittsburg, Penn., Tammy Finn (Christopher) of Maryland, Glenda Faye Spruill (Edgar) of Plymouth, NC, four sons, Marchellus James of Durham, NC, Anthony Lee Teale of Washington, NC, John Jay Walton of New York, Charlie Manuel of Utah, three sisters, Betty Jean Hardison of Jamesville, NC, Allie Benson of Williamston, NC, Hattie Alford of Bronx, NY, two brothers, Henry Lee Hardison of Clayton, NC, Levi Hardison of Robersonville, NC, two sisters-in-law, Gwen Cherry of Virgina Beach, VA, Alberta Bumpass of Maryland, several grandchildren, a host of cousins, relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
