Mr. Lawrence Lee Minor, 86 of 1910 Old US Hwy 64 Jamesville, North Carolina transitioned from earth to be with the Lord on January 20, 2016. Interment will be at the James Family Cemetery-Jamesville, NC. The Officiant and Eulogist for the Perkins-Minor Funeral Service is Bishop Anthony R. Terrell, Pastor of Promiseland Church of Christ, DOC.. The Perkins-Minor family will be receiving family and loved ones at 1910 Old US Hwy 64, Jamesville, NC. Mr. Lawrence Lee Minor, was born October 26, 1928, in Eden, North Carolina in the Blue Creek Community, to the late Grace Perkins Minor and Samuel Hairston, Sr.  He was reared, during his formative years, by his maternal grandmother, Ellen Perkins Morehead.  At the age of 13, he was adopted by his mother’s husband, Mr. Charles Minor and moved to Roanoke, Virginia to reside with his parents.  Lawrence was educated in the Blue Creek School and later in Roanoke City Schools.                                                                                                                       As a young man, Lawrence moved to Baltimore, Maryland with his Uncle George Perkins and began working at Continental Can Company (CCC).  In 1953, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and upon his honorable discharge; he resumed an 18 ½ year career, with CCC.  He then became employed, as a driver, with E.I. Kane Trucking Company and retired after 28 years of service.                                                                                                                                                 While living in Baltimore, Lawrence joined Perkins Square Baptist Church and later moved his membership to New Mount Hebron Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an Usher and as member of the Culinary Committee.  Upon moving to North Carolina in 1997, he joined Promise Land Disciples of Christ Church, where he served as Trustee.   Lawrence contributed his long life to “the good Lord, family, my love of mankind, and the love bestowed upon me by my beloved grandmother, Ellen”.  Lawrence was the consummate family man, a true gentleman, and a genuine lover of people.  He loved to talk-- never meeting a stranger, was an excellent cook, a sharp dresser, a dynamic storyteller, an astute Jazz enthusiast, and he delighted in entertaining.         Lawrence was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Minor, Jr. and two sisters, Lorine Williams and Margaret “Nita” Patterson.   Lawrence leaves as a treasured legacy, his devoted wife, Rosalind James Minor, four children, Regina Minor Bullock and Gail Minor of Baltimore Maryland, Douglas Minor of Roanoke, Virginia; and Bernard Mustafa (Daphne)  of Ashburn, Va.; a loving granddaughter, Mylana Norfleet (Charles), whom he and Rosalind raised, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.     Additionally, Lawrence is survived by brothers, Samuel Hairston, Jr. (Dixie) of Greenville, NC and James “Pee Wee” Minor of Roanoke, Va.; and sisters, Naomi Abbott and Gloria Purcell of Eden, NC, Nancy West of Capital Heights, Md., Eula Martin of Washington, DC, and Brenda Williams of Greensboro, NC.  Also left to cherish Larry’s memory, are his brothers-in-love Mike James and Joe Biggs; devoted sisters-in-love, Evelyn James, Dorethea Keyes, Carolyn Biggs, Joyce James, Evangeline Bell, and Sarah James; two special nieces Diane Powell and Kim Green; a dedicated nephew, Juan Minor, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.         Professional Service has been entrusted to MERCEDES’ Funeral Mansion and Cremation of Williamston N.C.
