Elder Donnie Wiggins

Elder Donnie Louis Wiggins departed this life on May 13, 2015 in Chapel Hill Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. Donnie was born to William A. Wiggins (deceased) and Marie R. Wiggins (Roberson) on October 16, 1949, in Williamston, NC. Donnie grew up in Williamston, but also lived for a number of years in Newport News, Virginia and later in Stamford, Connecticut. Donnie learned the trade of carpentry from his Uncle Alphonza Lyons while in Newport News and made it a lifetime career. It is fairly common to hear people describe the good work he did on various construction projects he completed for them and others. Donnie was very outgoing and easy to talk to. His family would also say he was the joker in the family with an uncanny Donald Duck impression. Donnie was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gean Shorey (Rudy) and a brother, William “Dickie” Wiggins. He leaves to mourn, one son, Jai, and two daughters Stephanie and Shalonda; his mother, Marie Wiggins of Williamston; one aunt, Bernice Lyons (Alphonza – deceased) of Newport News; three sisters, Julia Faye Tillmon of Williamston, Genevieve Ormon (Lloyd) of Gloucester, VA, and Priscilla Purvis (Dallas) of Williamston; nine nieces, three nephews, eight great nieces, nine great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
