Karen Irene (Story) Brown began her life journey on June 12, 1959. She gained her heavenly wings on November 27, 2022, at ECU Health in Greenville, NC. Karen was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Bernice (Kee) Story and the late James Edward Story.

Karen graduated from Midwood High School and attended Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. She married Michael Earl Brown Sr. From this union; two children were born, Michael Jr. and Michelle. Karen was a dedicated homemaker and was previously employed as an administrative assistant. She loved to crochet and craft jewelry. Anyone that crossed paths with Karen would recall her polite demeanor and selflessness. Karen truly loved her children, which she called “Baby Pet” and “Fats.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Story; husband, Michael Earl Brown Sr., father-in-law, Mr. Clyde Brown; and brother-in-law, Mr. Tyrone Brown.

Karen leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Dr. Michael and Mrs. Janise Brown of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Michelle Bertrina Brown; her granddaughter Noriyah Zyvea Brown of Williamston, NC; her brother, Robert Story of Columbus, OH; her aunt, Mary Story of Brooklyn, NY; her mother-in-law, Norris Outerbridge; her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Sandra Young of Williamston, NC; her nephews, Darnell Young of Richmond Hill, GA and Derek Young of Williamston, NC; her cousins, Vickie Scott and Terry Elliott of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel Sims (Alice) of Jonesboro, GA, Rose Emma Story Moore and Eric Jackson of Brooklyn, NY; Yolanda Jackson of Houston, TX. Along with a host of extended family and friends.

The family of Mrs. Karen Story Brown, with grateful and humble hearts, acknowledges every expression of love received during this time of bereavement. The many acts of kindness are deeply appreciated.
