The Obituary for Wilma Perkins Ward Mrs. Wilma “Tikki” Perkins Ward, 75 of Greenville, North Carolina departed this life on February 7, 2015 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Perkins and Odessa Noda Perkins, brothers, Willie Perkins, Marion Perkins, Lawrence Perkins, and sister Barbara Perkins of Greenville, North Carolina. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She moved to Philadelphia to pursue her 20 year career in fashion design. Mrs. Ward's entrepreneurial spirit created jobs in the community with her clothing factory as a source of economic growth. Mrs. Ward was also a founding member of African Cultural Art Form in Philadelphia which provided a black economic and social base for the community. After retiring, she returned to Greenville to care for her ailing mother. In addition, Mrs. Ward was a caregiver to other relatives and friends, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Memories of Mrs. Ward will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband of 31 years, Gerald Ward of Greenville, NC., loving son Algier Bryant (Debbie), sisters, Flaura “Sis” Fleming, Billie Grace Savage, Carol Dillard (Walter), brothers; Johnnie Perkins Sr. (Mary), and Edwin Perkins (Elaine), three devoted grandchildren, Aaliyah T, Frizzell, Algier Bryant III, and Darius O. Bryant, 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends which includes special friends, the women of “Sisters United” of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the words of a prolific writer: God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb; God gently closed your loving eyes, and whispered, “Peace be thine.” In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that monetary donations be sent to Philippi Church in c/o Kathy Brown or to www.GOFUNDME.COM
